On this adventure we traveled to the Cohutta wilderness. It was a beautiful day. The weather was absolutely perfect. It was 72° on December 26. Candy Mountain Goat Farm
We stumbled upon Candy Mountain Goat Farm in HipCamp and I was instantly ready to book because of the goat pictures! I did a little more research to convince Smalls that it was the right place. We typically look for places where there are only a few campsites because we like to keep to ourselves.…
Blood Mountain
Blood Mountain had been on my bucket list for a long time. It did not disappoint! We started from Byron Reece Trailhead making it 4.4 mile out and back. There was plenty of elevation with stairs in some places. When we went the snow was melting and there were several areas that were quite muddy.…

Brasstown Bald is the highest point in Georgia. Here, we parked and hiked up to the Visitor’s Center. This is only 0.6 mile trail that is paved and goes straight up to the summit. Once at the summit, there are amazing views of GA, NC, TN, and SC. The Visitor’s Center has a great scavenger…
Cartecay River Loop Trail
Cartecay River Loop Trail is a 3.4 mile loop just outside of Ellijay, GA. Like many of the WMA trails I’ve hiked, the terrain and scenery changes frequently. If you go left on the trail at the initial fork, it is a little easier. It starts out in an open field, there’s a good bit…
Long Creek Falls
Long Creek Falls is just a few miles from the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail at Springer Mountain. To get here, Take FS 58 to Three Forks. Here you park and hike on the AT and BMT. Around 0.8 mile, AT forks off one way, the BMT goes another direction, and you take the…
